World Environment Day

Topic: ‘Best out of waste’ Competition
World Environment day was celebrated in our college on 5th June 2021. The main purpose of the celebration was to spread awareness about the need to protect the environment and the ways to do it. To mark this day, Department of Environmental Studies conducted ‘Best out of waste’ competition through online. The students participated in the event by uploading the image and models. The winners are:

National Webinar

Topic: “ Women Warriors in National Freedom Struggle”
The Department of History in association with IQAC organized a National webinar on “Women Warriors in National Freedom Struggle”, on 26th June 2021. The webinar started at 10.30am with the message from Rev. Fr. Vijay Kumar, Secretary and Correspondent of Mysore Diocesan Education Society.
Ms. Sonia M.V, Assistant Professor, Department of History welcomed and introduced Resource person, Dr. N.C Sujatha, Assistant Professor, KSOU Mysore
Dr. N.C Sujatha took over the session. The session was very informative and interesting. She highlighted some of the important women warriors in National Struggle like Jhansi Lakshmi Bai, Sarojini Naidu, Kittur Rani Chennamma and more.
There were 180 participants from different parts of the states like Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarkhand, Tamilnadu, Rajasathan and more. The session was very interactive. The program ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Hadiya, Assistant Professor, Department of English. It was a grand success.

Vaccination Drive by YRC in Collaboration with Mysore City Corporation

Vaccination drive was organised by YRC wing of the college in association with MCC in the campus on June 29th and 30th 2021 where in students above 18, teachers, non-teaching staff of various educational institutions got vaccinated with the first dose of COVISHIELD with their college ID’s and Aadhar Card as proof. The Health Officer,was present throughout the drive.The Corporator of the Ward, Sri Shoukat Pasha also inspected the drive. A total of 210 members were benefitted from this drive.It was organised as per COVID protocol. The campus was sanitized for the next two days.

Webinar

The Department of Computer Science organized a webinar on the topic “An Insight into Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning and Deep learning “for the BCA students of the college. The resource person Smt.C K Sripavithra enlighted the students about these new methods important in business analytics,we are using in daily life in healthcare, finance, payments,e-commerce sectors.

It was a very informative and interactive session. 

Governing Council Meet

 

 The Annual Governing Council Meet was held on 10th August 2021, in the college auditorium in the presence of Rev Fr. Avinash- Administrator MDES, Prof. Manjunath S J-Syndicate Member, Rev. Fr. Praveen Kumar-Priest –Incharge, Mr. Sebi Mavely- Member, Dr. Anisha Kumar-Principal /Member and Ms. Pushpa Dyme-Faculty Representative.

Dr. Anisha Kumar Principal, presented the annual report of the college and observation of last affiliation and the members gave their valuable suggestions for the growth of the college.

In association with IQAC Independence Day

Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor on 15th August, 2021 in the mesmerizing way in the campus of St. Joseph’s College for Women and St.Joseph’s PU College for Girls Sathagalli, Mysore with the staff to mark the 75th year of freedom from the British rule.

The morning of the Independence Day in the college started by the hoisting of the tricolour flag by the Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Praveen Kumar, Incharge Priest.

Mrs.Rachana Pradeep was the host and welcomed the Guest and the gathering. The Chief Guest addressed the gathering appealing to the nationalistic spirit and urging all to take pride in being an Indian and fulfilling one’s duty with responsibility. He also emphasized the role of youth today as the true wealth of a country.

The significance of the day was delivered by Ms.Tejaswini. This was followed by a musical rendition by the teachers paying the tribute by singing patriotic songs that awakened everyone’s feelings towards the motherland. Ms. Puspha Dyme highlighted this year’s Independence day theme, “Nation First, Always First”. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Shaista.

Teacher’s Day

    “A teacher consumes oneself and lights the paths of others”

Virtual Teachers Day Program was organized by the Management in the presence of Rev. Dr.K.A.William, Bishop of Mysore, Rev.Fr.Vijay Kumar, Secretary MDES, Rev.Fr.Avinash Administrator, MDES, Rev.Fr.Praveen Kumar Priest Incharge, Seby Mavely CEO Training and Development, St.Joseph’s Institutions.

The Chief Guest in his speech stressed on teacher’s contribution during the times of pandemic and to motivate students to cope up with the pandemic and attend offline classes.

A fun session for teachers was organized by the cultural committee of the college, where in Games like Bombing the City, Quiz, Chain Game were played. The teachers enjoyed the session relieving their daily stress

Faculty Training Session

 

The CEO Mr.Seby Mavely delivered a session on the most mis-pronounced words used on daily basis for teachers in English language. He also taught the teachers the right pronunciation and the five sounds to keep away. Teaching is a process of unlearning and relearning which was emphasized. It was a very informative and interactive session.

Gandhi Jayanthi

 

Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated at St.Joseph’s Degree and PU College for girls in the college with great zeal and enthusiasm. Students and teachers gathered to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with patriotic fervor.

Mrs.Sushma, Hindi faculty welcomed the gathering. The significance was delivered by Mr.Ravi Kiran, faculty of Kannada Department.

Dr.Anisha Kumar, Principal, St.Joseph’s College for Women and Ms.Christiana P Taylor, Principal, St.Joseph’s PU College for Girls paid floral tributes to Gandhiji.

Mrs.Ranjitha, Hindi  faculty proposed the vote of thanks.

Graduation Day

St.Joseph’s College for Women organized Graduation Day, for the final year B.Com, BBA, BCA and BA students in the college premises. Dr.Anisha Kumar,Principal, welcomed the gathering.  Mr.Seby Mavely, CEO, Training and Development, MDES administered the oath. The Chief Guest Dr.C.K.Renukarya, Director, Pooja Bhagavat Memorial Mahajana PG Center in his speech emphasized on women achievers and motivated the students to be women entrepreneurs to build a strong nation. Rev.Fr.Vijay Kumar, Secretary and Correspondent MDES, delivered the presedential address. Rev.Fr.Praveen Kumar, Incharge Priest and Ms.Christiana P Taylor, Principal, St.Joseph’s PU College graced the occasion.

Valmiki Jayanthi

St.Joseph’s Degree College for Women celebrated Valmiki Jayanthi to pay tribute to great saint Maharshi Valmiki who is reagarded as “Adi Kavi”.

Ravikiran, Department of Kannada highlighted the achievement of Maharashi Valmiki, who wrote Ramayana was considerable and  a guide for younger generation.

Principal and the teaching staff paid the floral tribute to the portrait of Maharshi Valmiki.

First Aid Awareness by Indian Red Cross Society

A guidance programme on First Aid was conducted by Indian Red Cross Society, District Branch at Maharaja’s College on 30th October,2021 for Youth Red Cross Volunteers. Five students from St.Joseph’s Degree College for Women, Sathagalli, Mysore represented the college and witnessed the session. The resource person explained the meaning and scope of First Aid. The visual teaching application in turn helped the students understand the concept better. The students had an enriching and fruitful session and received the certificates at the end of the session

Youth Red Cross Unit in Collaboration with NSS organised Free Legal Aid and Lok Adalath

To spread the legal awareness among the girl students. NSS and YRC unit of St.Joseph’s Degree College for Women in collaboration with Mysuru District Legal Service Authority(NALSA Pan India Awareness and Outreach Programme) organised Free Legal Aid and Lok Adalath on  2nd November,2021 in the college premises. Smt. C.N. Munirathnamma, II JMFC Judge, Mysuru was the Chief Guest. It was presided by Dr. Anisha Kumar, Principal, St.Joseph’s College for Women,Mysuru. Mrs.Naghma Sulthana,NSS Coordinator and Ms.Pushpa Dyme,YRC Coordinator.

Addressing the one day legal awareness meet the Chief Guest said that laws dealing with women issues were necessary to solve the problems encountered by women. In view of increasing crimes against women and human trafficking, knowledge of law would help themselves get their grievances redressed without the assistance of others.

The legal awareness programme was successful in imbibing a basic understanding of the legal concepts among the students. Overall the session were a great learning experience for the students.

One day Workshop for Youth Red Cross Program Officer by IRCS, Mysore Branch

One day Workshop for Youth Red Cross Program Officer was organised by IRCS, Mysore Branch at Maharaja College premises. Youth Red Cross Program Officers of different college presented the activities of their respective colleges.  The committee members of IRCS, Mysore branch and Nodal Officer of Youth Red Cross Unit briefed about the activities that can be conducted under the YRC wing. The programme concluded with the distribution of first aid kits.

Kannada Rajyotsava

Kannada Rajyothsva was celebrated with great enthusiasm at St.Joseph’s Degree College auditorium on 10th November, 2021. Dr.H.K Thimmegowda, HOD Kannada Department, Mahajana College was the Chief Guest. Students enthralled the audience by singing the popular Kannada Naada Geethe. The Chief Guest spoke about the beauty and simplicity of Kannada language and encouraged students to learn kannada. He also emphasized on the importance of learning kannada and threw light on the achievements of Kannadigas in various spheres of life and the rich heritage of Karanataka. The event generated a sense of pride in the minds of the audience for being part of a culture that is so rich and vibrant.

Orientation Programme

St.Joseph’s College for Women organised Orientation Programme for the newly admitted B.Com, BBA, BCA and BA students at the auditorium premises on 27th November,2021. The major objective of programme was to make the students aware of academic aspects of course, the rules and regulations of the college and ensuring monitoring of performance and progress of students.

The programme was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Chief Guest Rev.Fr.Edward William Saldanha while delivering speech on the occasion addressed the attitude of success and dedication to the academic category for students. In his brief address he also spoke about the descipline aspects and welfare about their future.

Rev.Fr.Vijay Kumar, Secretary and Correspondent,MDES gave the presidential address and motivated students. Dr.Anisha Kumar, Principal,St.Joseph’s College for Women presented about the college decorum and regulations, highlighting the organisations faith and confidence in promoting the college.

Investiture Ceremony

The Investiture Ceremony for the academic year 2021-22 was held on 4th December,2021. The Chief Guest for the event was Mrs.Joyce Lobo, CEO, St.Joseph’s and St.Matthias Institutions, MDES, Mysuru. The ceremony began with recitation of the holy scriptures followed by lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Mrs. Joyce Lobo in her addressing inculcated the leadership qualities in the students and she gave them a feel of leadership experience and also inspired and encouraged the elected leaders to be dutiful and responsible. The oath taking ceremony was led by Ms.Amania Mohsin, President of the college and entrusted to the other Prefects the upcoming responsibilities and support for the academic year. All the leaders were rewarded with the badges and the programme ended with a gratitude of vote of thanks.

Christmas Celebration

On 23rd December, 2021 St.Joseph’s College for Women celebrated Christmas programme for all the staff and students in the campus. Christmas is celebrated worldwide as a symbol of deliverance and humanity. This year it was organized a weeklong celebration to mark the spread of love and the choir glimpsed the programme by singing melodious christmas carols. The campus and the classrooms were beautifully decorated with christmas trees and twinkling stars. The students ushered the christmas programme by watching a part of the nativity play and witnessed the message and wishes of Rev.Fr.Vijay Kumar, Secretary,MDES and Dr.Anisha Kumar, Principal virtually. The students were further thrilled when Santa Claus actually being a student who dressed up to render the joy of the merry season. The celebrations ended with distribution of cakes to staff and students.

Inauguration of New Campus of St.Joseph’s College for Women at Ramanahalli, Mysore

January 3rd ,2022 was indeed an auspicious day for all the Josephites of Sathagalli campus. The blessing and inaugural function of the new college building was held at Ramanahalli, Mysore. Most Rev. Dr. K.A. William, Bishop of Mysore and President of MDES blessed the building and Dr. Hemanth Kumar, Honourable Vice Chancellor, University of Mysore was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the building.

The programme was witnessed by the Correspondents of MDES, CEO’s, Fathers, Sisters and Heads of Institutions. The Chief Guest, Bishop and President of MDES gave their insightful thoughts about the new endeavors and growth of the college. Felicitation was done to the Architect and Engineer of the building.  

Cultural programme was an extra potentiality to the programme which was carried over by our college students. The programme ended with a relishing buffet lunch. This day embarked a symbol of a new journey in the history of St.Joseph’s College for Women.

Republic Day

India won her freedom on the 15th of August, 1947 and became a Republic on the 26th of  January, 1950. The new Constitution of free India came into force with effect from this day. The day was celebrated in our St.Joseph’s College with great eclat. Mrs.Shirley, Department of English hosted the program. The Chief Guest of the day Rev.Fr. Arokgya Raj, Priest-in-Charge unfurled the National Flag. This was followed by our National Anthem and patriotic songs. The Chief Guest addressed the gathering and highlighted on the importance of ‘Youth Power’. Ms.Ashwini highlighted the significance of the Republic Day. Ms.Sanghamithra proposed the vote of thanks.

International Women’s Day Celebration

International Womens Day was celebrated on March 8th,2022 which upholds the womanhood and pays tribute to the spirit of women across the globe. This year theme of womens day was “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”. The programme was organised to mark this occasion at our college campus under the guidance of the cultural committee. It was presided over by    Rev.Fr.Praveen Kumar, Priest-in-charge, St.Joseph’s Colleges, Dr.Prithvi Shirahatti, Principal, St.Joseph’s College for Women and Ms.Christiana P Taylor, Principal, St.Joseph’s PU College for Girls. Mrs.Shirley, Assistant Professor, Department of English gave the importance of the day. Rev.Fr.Praveen Kumar addressed the staff and encouraged the Gender Equality Sustainability in his words. The programme ended with vote of thanks and an informal games session was held to all the teaching and non-teaching staff where all had fun and enjoyment.

Ambedkar Jayanthi

To mark the birth anniversary of Dr.Ambedkar our staff of St.Joseph’s College for Women and St.Joseph’s PU College for Girls celebrated a programme on 14th April, 2022 which commenced with welcome speech, and Mrs.Komala of Kannada Department spoke in brief about Dr.Ambedkar and his contribution in the framing of our Indian Constitution. The programme ended with vote of thanks, “one need not be born into great and influenial families, but with goal, hardwork and responsibilities one can become great,” taking the example of our very own Dr.B.R.Ambedkar.

World Environment Day

 

World Environment Day 2022, was celebrated in the college on 3rd June,2022 under the theme ‘Only One Earth’. The main objective of the celebration was to bring awareness among students about the importance of nurturing the Mother Nature. To honour this day Department of Environmental Studies with the help of other Departments conducted competitions for students across two days, namely Pick and Speak and Quiz on 3rd June,2022 and Essay writing on 4th June,2022. Many students participated and made it meaningful.

Intercollegiate Management Fest

An inter collegiate Management Fest was organised by Myra School of Business which had participation of 100 plus enthusiastic students who braved through 4 levels of meticulously designed challenges to be crowned the ‘Leadepreneur 2022’ on 4th June,2022. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs.10,000 and was also offered scholarships and a free acess to one day MBA program.

Our institution students had participated in the fest and received certificates. With staff efforts and students interest they had a good exposure to the practical awareness of an organisations activities and devisions.

Fresher’s Day Celebration

The purpose of freshers day is to welcome new students in a friendly atmosphere and to encourage their creative impulses to boost their confidence. It’s the day where seniors and juniors finally bond and unite to celebrate being part of the college. Students batch of    2021-22 were welocmed by the students council. Rev.Fr. Vijaykumar, Secretary,MDES addressed the students and gave a brief insight on their responsibilities and their growth in this institution.  Rev.Fr.Madulai Muthu, Treasurer,MDES,gave his insights and thoughts on the students welfare in the college.  Freshers along with their seniors got chance to showcase their talent by a stunning Rampwalk, various dance performances like solo, duo, group dances. The audience enjoyed and encouraged the students by which Ms.Fresher was announced by Ms.Uma Jadav, President of Mysore, Hairdo and Makeup association and she crowned Ms.Naziya as Ms.Fresher of 2022 batch. The event was concluded with vote of thanks. Refreshment were served in after the programe.   

 

International Yoga Day

World Yoga Day was celebrated in the college on 21st June,2022 with the international theme of ‘Yoga for Humanity’. To mark the significance of this day from the Physical Education Department and the NSS Committee yoga session was conducted for students under the headship of Physical Education instructor of Ms.Vani Christopher in the college play ground.

 

Activity from Management Club

The influence of social media is being used in ways that shape politics, business world culture, education, careers, innovation and more. A debate competition was held at the college play area on the topic “Social Media’s Impact on the society”, to all the batches of B.Com and BBA students of the college on 25th June,2022. The students actively participated in the competition and gave their views and insights. They participated with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
