Guest Talk from the Department of Commerce and Management
The Department of Commerce and Management conducted a guest lecture. The resource
person was Dr.Nagendra Babu, DOS in Commerce, University Of Mysore. He made the
session very interesting by involving the students and by giving them insights about the
very recent issues in the field of Business Education. He also gave brief thoughts on the
isuues in Indian Business Education and the opportunities available to the graduated
students. The session ended with valeditory segment and the students were happy with the brief information.

REPORT ON ORIENTATION DAY PROGRAMME
Dr. Prithvi S Shirahatti, Principal , St. Josephs Degree College for women and Ms. Cristiana P Taylor, Principal, St .Josephs PU College for girls graced the occasion with their presence. The college choir invoked God’s blessings through an invocation song, followed next was lamp lighting ceremony accompanied by all the dignitaries. Next a brief description by the degree college Principal was described, which included the college motto, history, and reputation along with the presentation of clubs, courses and facilities available in the institution. The esteemed chief guest took over the session and gave the personal and academic guidance in connection with positivity, confidence, communication and hard work traits. The session ended with student’s feedback of first year BCA, Umme Saniya and Syeda Saniya who shared and were overwhelmed with the benefits of the session.
REPORT ON FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
University of Mysore had conducted a two day faculty development programme on December 2nd and 3rd at 10.am at the University of Mysore. The topic was on “Financial education and investment awareness “(NEP) It’s an awareness and enhancement course where the session aimed at giving information about the foundations for financial decision making and oriented the faculties about the investment and its specifications of criteria for the selection. Prof. Lokanath N.K, Director, planning, monitoring and evaluation Board (PMEB) UOM, Mysuru was the speaker of the programme. He gave insights about the course planning and the subject’s implementation for the NEP students. The sessions were divided into four and each session was taken over by various resource persons.

This FDP Programme has proven to be successful to the teaching skills in higher education by making the learning methodology more acceptable and easy to comprehend.
REPORT ON INDUSTRIAL VISIT
The chief co coordinator of BEML explained and gave insights about the BEML divisions and construction products of portfolio which includes motor graders, aircraft towing trucks etc. the students had good exposure of the company and were taught the good information regarding the manufacturing units and its process in transport sector . The students and staff reached back to the college campus by around 2 pm.

The event was richly honored by the guests who supported and motivated who included Major Sangeetha, Adam Officer 3Kar girl’s BN NCC, Mysuru, Dr. DiwakarChandy, Nodal officer of YRC, UOM, Mrs. ShruthiJayaprakesh, who were the sponsors of Walkathon T-shirts to the participants and staff.Mr. SebyMavely, CEO Training and Development, MDES and Ms. Christiana P Taylor, Principal, St. Joseph’s PU College for Girls, Sathagalli, Mysuru also graced the occasion. Dr. PrithviShirahatti, Principal, St. Joseph’s College for Women, Rammanahalli, Mysuru, welcomed all the guests and was the major backbone for the events success. Mrs. Vani Christopher, Director, Dept of Physical Education, concluded the program by vote of Thanks. Most Rev Dr. K. Antony Williams, Bishop of Mysore happily flag offed to “Walkathon 2022”- Walk for Hope and the participants walked with the Awareness Banners and placards throughout the Rammanahalli village covering approximately around 4 kms. The participants enthusiastically participated and gave awareness about WORLD AIDS DAY to the villagers. They were given refreshments at the college after the Walkathon and the day ended with a group photo session.
Report on Kannada Rajyostava
Kannada Rajyotsava was celebreted wih great enthusiasm at St.Joseph’s College for Women,Sathagalli by the staff and students at college auditorium on November 1st , 2022.Students showcased their talent’s of singing and dancing and exhibited their love for the beloved state ,Karnataka.Mrs.Komala,Kannada faculty member, St.Joseph’s PU College for Girls hosted the programme.The occasion was wittnessed by dignitaries Mrs.Joyce Lobo,CEO,St.Joseph’s schools,MDES,Dr.Prithvi Shirahatti,Principal St.Joseph’s College for Women and Ms.Christiana P Taylor,Principal , St.Joseph’s PU College for Girls who took part in lightining of the lamp.
Mr Ravi Kiran ,Assistant Professor,Department of Kannada spoke on the significance of the day. The ceremony ended with “ Nadageethe” which genereted a sense of pride in the minds of staff and students,for being part of a culture that is so rich and vibrant.
REPORT ON WEBINAR ON SEBI
The department of commerce and management organized a webinar on the topic “INTRODUCTION TO STOCK EXCHANGE AND ITS REGULATIONS IN INDIA”, with the main objective to create awareness amongst the students of St.Jospehs Degree College for Women. The Resource person for the webinar was Ms.Marina Jose, Resource person, BSE-IPF, Mumbai. This programs objective was to introduce students into the fascinating world of the Indian Stock market (Demat account, Trading account).
The students participated and got benefited academically and technically in the field of stock markets and its regulations. There were 65 students totally who participated for the Webinar.

Report on Independence Day celebration
India celebrated its 75th Independence day as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate its freedom.
15th August, 2022 was a day of immense pride and joy for all Indians. St Joseph’s degree college for women celebrated the 75th Independence Day with great pride and enthusiasm.
Mr. Sunil, Sub Inspector and Mr. Srinivas patil, Sub Inspector Chief guest, hoisted the national flag which was followed by the National Anthem. A Systematic march-past was done by our students which signified methodology and perseverance.
Cultural program like skit and dance was rendered to the patriotic soldiers and freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives on this special day.
The staff, principal and Rev. Fathers were the joint backbone of this successful celebration.
Report On Model Making Competition
Department Of Computer Science had organized model making competition to the students where 15 groups participated and exhibited their relative models in field of science and computers.
It was held on August 11th,2022 at the college auditorium. Rev.Fr.Vijay Kumar, secretary ,MDES was guest of honor and he encouraged the students with good thoughts and guidance .
The models were judged by the judges, from St.Joseph’s PU College by Computer Science Department ,and respective prizes were given to the winners .
It was immense pride to all the students and a successful exhibition for all their hard work.
Report On Industrial Visit
Department of Commerce and Management had organized an industrial visit to N.RANGA RAO & SONS, Nanjangud ,Mysore on 28th July 2022.
It is a Mysore product and general trading company which has largest market share in incense (agarbhatti) and others pooja essential’s in India.
The second and final year BCOM and BBA students were taken batch wise and were given the information about the production activities and the process of product manufacturing.
The industry was overwhelmed in welcoming us and gave us good insights about their brands, products and other things which motivated the students in becoming entrepreneurs of today’s world.
A Guest Talk On Stress Management By Youth Red Cross Unit
Department Of Commerce and Management conducted a guest talk designed for students about handling the stress in their day to day life on 27th July 2022.
Mr.Prakash.S Msc(agri),DNHE,Health Education Officer,divisional joint director officer, health and family welfare service Mysore division, Mysore. The session seemed very useful and efficient to reduce the stress and the students had a great experience and information among the discussion.
This session gave the students and faculty members an opportunity to learn how to manage stress in their daily lives.
Report On Webinar
The Department of Commerce and Management conducted a webinar on 22nd July 2022 at 2:30pm at the college auditorium on the topic “PRINCIPLES OF INVESTING” Ms.Marina Jose, resource person ,BSE-IPF,was fascinated meeting all the students .This program was conducted through Google meet where more than 120 students took part.
She introduced students into world of investing, with emphasis on how to choose the right company and highlighted the common mistakes made by investors the students were appreciated and encouraged issuing E-certificate.

Physical Education is an integral part of total education system, helping in attainment ofultimate aim of education.
St Joseph’s College for Women took an extensive measure to conduct a one day sports expo at college campus on 14th January 2023.Students of second and final year were divided among groups and each group exhibited different sports games models and gave explanation to the same.
The chief guest for the day, Rev. Fr. Madalai Muthu, Treasurer, MDES, Correspondent, St. Joseph’s College for Women, Rammanahalli, and Mysore inaugurated the event.The event was judged by Mrs. Jayashree k, Director of Physical Education and Sports, Maharani’s Women’s Commerce and Management College and Mr. Shivanna. H. N, Physical Education Director, Vishwamanava Kuvempu FGC.

REPORT ON FUN DAY
The 2nd February, 2023 was a memorable day in the life of every student of this academic year as they celebrated FUN DAY. The day was filled with excitement, joy, music, enthusiasm, laughter and happiness. It was the day where all the students united to celebrate being part of the college.
The student council members took initiative in organizing the events of games and cultural programmes which was structured in a well mannered way. The fun games were conducted to the students like treasure hunt, balancing the stick, balancing the balloon etc. the highlights of the day was that the staff also enjoyed their day by enthusiastically participating the Musical chair event. The day further entered into its main joyous stage performances and the students sang and performed dances to the beats removing all the stress and enjoyed their pure bliss moment.
